The group called Edentates is not a natural, monophyletic group; we use it here as a matter of convenience
and because of its historical interest. The Xenarthra are the sloths, armadillos and anteaters; the
Tubulidentata is represented by a single species, the Aardvark, while the Pholidota are the Scaly
Anteaters of the Old World. In addition to the living species, we offer a few fossil Xenarthrans as well. |

The Six-banded Armadillo, also known as the Yellow Armadillo, is a species from
South America. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Suriname.
It is a solitary nocturnal and terrestrial animal, living in many habitats from rainforest to grassland,
but mainly found on open areas, such as cerrado plains. It is omnivorous, feeding on a wide range of plant and
